Multiple Affected as Turbulence Impacts Delta Aircraft Landing at Sydney, Australia
Several people sustained injuries after a Delta Airlines flight from LA to Sydney experienced turbulence on Friday morning.
The flight, numbered 41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at the Sydney airport, a representative for the carrier stated. Four flight attendants sustained injuries.
Emergency medical services stated they assessed five individuals, and transported three of them to the hospital with minor injuries that such as pain in the back and head pain. The injured spanned from their thirties and seventies.
It is the newest example of aircraft being hit by turbulence, with experts pointing out that climate change is a key driver.
On board were 245 people and 15 crew members on the Airbus A350, the Delta spokesperson said, clarifying that the plane arrived "without further incident" at Sydney Airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on Friday morning.
Paramedics said they were alerted just only 180 seconds prior to the plane arrived, and response teams were ready and waiting at the airport.
