Similar to the recent storm swept through the north-west the previous evening, City overwhelmed Manchester United aside at the their home ground. It was a convincing three goal victory for their manager's side thanks to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a performance that firmly established their leadership claims as they consolidated their standing at the league summit.

Back-to-Back Losses for Manchester United

This result signalled consecutive WSL setbacks for Skinner's side for the initial occasion since last May, leaving them a sizable gap off the league leaders with their championship aspirations severely dented.
