Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Planners groups.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which players will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
